Twister flat spot
« on: January 14, 2011, 12:19:24 am »
My 340 Snow Twister comes out of the hole  great then hits a flat spot and then kicks back in and just goes and goes ... I am certain it is clutching,, and I am thinking engage it a little higher and maybe it will go away... or load up the secondary some more.. any thoughts.. thanks
If you don't ride it it is not a toy..

just for giggles try a differnt belt, and also check for a broken motor mount and or  the jackshaft support- they like to break on the dash side.

I just had mine out the other day.  (X))

Anyways, I notice she'll take off great, then the secondary shifts and then it goes again. I know mine is in the clutching, but I'm not super knowlegable on tuning clutches so it will have to stay as is. My primary is stock guts but has a yellow spring. Green was too agressive for me. Merc diver, any secrets on the secondary (I have the 76 j-shaft in my 74 if you remember and I have a 76 arctic clutch on it all stock).

Dual mikuni's seem to be working well, my plugs are good, just a hint lean nothing to burn down but I'd like a tad more juice, but I can remedy that with the bowl jet. Is there any sense/purpose to move the e clip on the needle?  I think my top end can be improved, mid range seems good, pulls very hard.

put the driven spring in the next LOOSER hole, and clips are only for a mid range bog of some type, should be in the middle

A few years ago my 75 440 started to "flat spot" it turned out to be a broken pillow block. Which by the way was a recall when the sleds were new.

There is a tipster out to make a bracket which runs from the pillow block to the dash area if that turns out to be your problem.
