Well today we found out more about the mystery engine in this 68 machine. Aaron Johnson showed the photo to Polaris legend Leroy Lindblad. Leroy knew about it. It is one of just two motors built. Allan Hetteen got two crankcases, the motors were built up and raced. One grenaded a rod through the case, and the other? Well, no one knows what happened to it. Leroy said the motor would “Pull like crazy” but the top speed was not much faster than a 744, around 75 M.P.H., probably fast enough on one of them chassis!

Thanks to Ken Jacobsen for the photo and to Aaron for digging into it. Now you all know.. there’s a very, very rare triple engine out there some where!
