This is the original Arctic Cat race trailer used for supporting all the independant guys who raced Scorpion and Cat on the ovals, probably also cross country in the late 70’s, until Cat went out of business in the early 80’s.
This means this was used to give some factory help to the little guy who’s name did not get painted on the SnoPro team trailers. Say some guy smacked up his sled in practice and needed a seat or a hood? Some guy had trouble clutching and needed a clutch or gearing set-up? Some guy lost a cylinder in practice? Some guy ripped his leather suit, his one and only suit, and needed a new one? Charlie Lofton and his crew were there to advise and provide parts and accessories to certified racers at decent prices. This way the average guy got to finish a race, rather than go home because he broke something or miss a heat because he had to run all over the town outside the track trying to find a part. That’s loyalty and support and good marketing.
Thanks to Bull Session members, the trailer is well on it’s way to becoming a very cool display at the Snowmobile Hall of Fame in St. Germain, Wisconsin! All kinds of people have volunteered to help get it purchased, cleaned up and on display for generations to enjoy.
If you can help, even a little, please do! Donations in the amount of $50.00 or more can be sent to the “Snowmobile Hall of Fame” and are tax deductable. The address is P.O. Box 720 St. Germain, Wi. 54558. Make your checks payable to Snowmobile Hall of Fame and in the memo section mark them “Arctic Cat Trailer Project”.
