Vics MIRA Enduro RXL 340 restoration project

 I had tracked down the original driver. He had indicated that this particular sled was the fastest 340 in the state of Michigan running the MIRA circuit. As mentioned they ran against the 440's . I am torn between undoing all that was done to this sled to compete in this circuit or taking it back to original . I am leaning towards a happy medium between the two. Hey bucky , I felt lucky that I was able to purchase this sled.  There are many surprises awaits me when I progress on this project.

 Thank you  TakeItToTheLimit for the compliment . After seeing how flimsy these sleds are , I am surprised that these actually were able to finish any of the MIRA events. That may be just pure luck. The original driver on this sled indicated that the motor in this one was the most reliable motor that he had ever seen. Never was worried about blowing it up. Maybe more worried about the chassis coming apart. Looking at the original hood , this sled had never been on its top , but looked as though it had been over some berms , taking out below the radiator glass.

Vic, Ray here. We have spoke many times good luck that will be an awesome sled when done, Im working on a clone right now. and hope to be adding a mailbox cat to the fray soon. Get er done!

 My next two sleds are going to be Bob Elsners #3 and Jim Dimmermans #4 1980 mail boxes.
 That will be next year though.

 Just a little up date on the progress. I have media blasted the handlebars , coolent recovery tank , jack shaft , all the skid components and are being droped off at the powder coaters on Sunday on the way home from the Iron Dog 2000 mile start. Will pick them up next Friday.
 Wish I could post pics on my own to keep everyone updated.
 I was in visiting my local Polaris dealer on thursday and found a NOS Polaris hydraulic master cylinder for the sled.

 Hey 2dmod  , welcome back . Just droped off all the glass beaded steel parts at the powder coaters and will pick those up on Monday. Have located all the OEM heim joints and next week will be reassembling misc parts. Then the real task will start , involving removing the trashed bulkhead and splitting the tunnel to replace the center section with new material and rebuilding the bulkhead. I will keep postings on the progress of this undertaking.
  Hope this turns out as nice as my 72 EXT did.
 This weekend is my annual run up north in the river running event on my EXT,  hope to finish this year , have done my homework. Will repost on my EXT blog.
 Having a blast !!!!!!!!!
