We run the 440 and 500 Modstock sleds together in the same class. Run it that way the last couple of years here at OVSR.

If you are running 440’s with 500’s wouldn’t it be wise to eliminate the 1mm oversize rule for 440 mod stocks? I can run up to 464cc in isr or anywhere else including grass, but when I want to run 440 ms at okoboji against sleds with 60cc’s on me I can’t even have a .060” oversize. Just my .02

In the past there hasn't been a 500 FA show up in mod stock class. I can think of 1 sled, there maybe others, the arctic cat 5000, that might show but in mod stock trim I think you will do just fine against it. Looks like you can run 500fa ms, 440 piston port open, 440 fa ps and maybe other classes. Bring it on down have some fun.

500cc gives the guys built around ISR cc limits a place for there 440 engines bigger than 40 over stock. only 500 is putty cats and I wouldn't be afraid them

I think the .040” rule still applies for the 440 ms sleds. I know I have no place complaining about rules as I am not the guy donating his time for this, but a cc limit would make more sense than a generalized bore size limit on a sled to sled basis. For example if a free air gpx wanted to bump against a srx. The Srx would be allowed 69.5mm bore while the already disadvantaged gpx would be limited at 69mm. A guy can’t afford to build an engine for each set of rules especially when cylinders are getting harder and harder to find. I fully understand a smaller cc engine quite often beats a larger size. I built my engine around a certain piston and if I can’t run in okoboji than it is what it is. Just doesn’t make sense to me. It’s still a 440 anywhere else. Maybe it works better in for others I suppose.

I understand what you're saying. You would be running against 440 fa's in the 500fa class. If you want to jump up to race a 440 lq they would probably let you. I don't think .020 is going to help you much against an srx. They would probably allow you to run 440 pro stock also. Message the race director personally.

It’s not the .020” I’m worried about. My whole engine is designed around a certain piston. Its whatever I’m done whining.

What is the year cutoff for the piston port pro stock open? Will a ifs sled be allowed to run in it?

Just bring your sled and run it.
I brought up the .040 overbore rule at the meeting and said that the oval races allow .060 and we should too, that gives more sleds an opportunity to race.

1989 will be the cut off for all Stock, Modstock, and Prostock classes at OVSR. Yes piston port IFS, but no spropro sleds, sleds can run in the piston port prostock open.

All stock, modstock, and prostock classes are for sleds manufactured up to 1989. IFS piston prostock sleds will be allowed to run in the Piston Port Prostock Open. Please read the rules for each class that is in the Post on here. If you need a set of rules to be printed off send me a PM with your email.
