Hay Days this weekend
« on: September 11, 2021, 05:48:11 am »
If you are going to Hay Days please stop by Memory Lane and the old sled display.  Midwest Vintage Snowmobiles is doing it again this year at the request of the Sno-Barons.

I believe the ASCOA is working with the Sno-Barons also, but don't know the details.  They may be putting on an Antique race?

Many thanks to the Sno-Barons for several decades of support for the MVSS Midwest Ride-In.

The A.S.C.O.A. had a good display of both Antique & Vintage Sleds.
They did a fun run down the track on both Saturday & Sunday.

I sure think it would be fun to run one of these old sleds down the track at Hay Days and just be able to say I RACED AT HAYDAYS!!

An idea to throw at the ASCOA would be to add to their program (I was not there to see it) a feature year race changing yearly and have a heat or two of say 1968 sleds or 1969 sleds etc.,  I remember going to the races at that time and you would typically see a Doo, Sno-Jet, Moto-ski and maybe a Rupp on the line. I would try to be there to watch that.

Back in that era you had Moto-ski and Sno-Jet Distributors I think right in Forest Lake and those two brands were fast on the grass in that era.

It sounds like they were a big hit with the old iron,
so big they were invited back again next year.
Now I might have to get a sled ready for the grass.
I will add, it was sure dusty.

There was a Scorpion Brut, not sure what year that was.
It was basically opened for all I'm thinking, John Hayes drove his Rear Engine Sno Traveler.
It was just a demonstration, everyone who ran received a Dash Plaque & Trophy.
