Yes, they didn't build a lot of 89 El Tigre 6000's.     Think it was just a 88 with different graphics.   Had  green lighting bolt graphic with  El Tigre in the middle of
graphic with a gold colored strip under it.   Like said out board rear shocks on each side of the tunnel.     530 cc twin  with twin factory pipes.    89 The Wild Cat 650 took its place as the  big bore high performance sled in that era.  Up until the Wild Cat  El Tigre 6000 was the biggest engine cat made in those years.

Yup.  The Wildcat come out in 88.  I bought one.  They had 38 mm carbs and outboard rear shocks.  The 89 Wildcat had 40 mm carbs and no outboard shocks and weighed about 45 lbs less.  Back to the 89 6000 Tiger.  I think it had wider handle bars than the 88.  I think all 89's had 5 inches added to the width of the bars.

Yes, the wild cat came out in 88.   Think it really came out late 87 least the promo sleds did.  They had a olive green seat out board shocks if I remember?  Very few where made.   88 production they changed stuff just a little.    The  88 El Tigre 6000 was a strong runner not much drop off from the 88 650 wild cat.  That was what I was getting at.   Bad wording on my part.      Because in 89 Cat dropped the El Tigre 6000 even though they did make a few limited 6000's.
Cat was phasing out the 6000.  They detuned the El Tigre now badged as the El Tigre EXT.    They put a single pipe on it and now in the wild cat chassis.   They where pretty much junk as far as performance the 89 El Tigre EXT.   Prior to the the Wild Cat 650  the El Tigre 6000 was cats big muscle sled.   The 85-89 6000 had  twin factor pipes.   Factory assisted 530 reed engine.   89 El Tigre EXT and 89 El Tigre 6000 are two totally different sleds.
