a person on ebay has two sets of 72 starfire skis for sale.   They look to me from the pictures like regular TX skis.  Can someone enlighten me about the 72 skis?   I am building a 76 starfire clone strictly for my own enjoyment, and was wondering if these might be an option if they are indeed narrower than the standard ski.

TXFAN, if you want the correct 76 starfire skis on your clone, be prepared to spend $600+ for a decent pr......

Didn't Colt S/S come with shocks
and on std Colts they were an add on kit?

standard colt didn't come with shocks but the SS did.  both models had the shock provision on the ski, spindle saddle did not on the standard.

Not to hijack the thread but as far as skis go whats up with the different looking skis I think they are called shovel skis, I have a pair not sure if they came off a 250 tx or another sled I picked up. Thanks

    Dirtman,
Yes sir, rear ski tail wear was an issue on my 1976 TX 250 I purchased used in fall of 1978.  It had about 1200 miles on it.  Not sure if it was from road running or what.  I remember replacing the skis some time in 1979 with some Cat skis I got at Small Engine City in St.Paul (?).  I liked the Polaris skis handling better as the Cat skis were heavier steering.

yeah Randy it strange, but 80% of them i have had were completely shot... saved a few with some serious welding.
