So I always keep an eye on Facebook market place for sleds. I took a peek while watching tummy time with my two month old son. I spot a '72 atx, one of my favorite body styles! Remember I'm supervising tummy time.... for my second born.
I open the listing, BOOM listed 14 minutes ago and it's 45 minutes away. I message the guy and he agrees for me to come check it out come the weekend (last weekend) AND he removes the listing. I keep telling my wife I will stop saving sleds from the junk man.. this one is rough and I mean crusty. The engine it locked up, he entices me and says he has a Centurion also. Doggonnit now I just have to go. Because ya just never know, right?
I get there both engines are locked up, both sleds sat outside for years covered in moss, broked hoods from plowing snow into them. We agree on a price for both that was fair (he knew what he had) but I didn't know if I bought two boat anchors with locked up motors. The Centurion has no primary clutch... of course that was grenaded when it got raced on the lake..... and here I am impressing my wife dragging home more sleds to save. I suppose I don't mind the couch.
I got started on the atx. lots of Kroil and sitting overnight the engine budged, LOTS more kroil and little wiggles it came free. I pulled the bottom case plugs and no water only clean Kroil came out.
Next, a check of compression. Wow 150 PSI ok, check spark; I got spark! fuel.......
Still cleaning carbs, haha but it came to life on a dribble of fuel down the plug holes
So if anyone know what kind of clutch I can put on the centurion I would sure appreciate your input folks!
