POLARIS CDI AND STATOR SWAP
« on: July 21, 2016, 09:58:16 pm »
So the question is can a cdi and stator on from any polaris small block.440 fan to 488 fan and 400 to 500 liquid be used on one another without issues. I currently am running a 98 xcf cdi and stator  on a 1986 488, with no issues.
This for a project i am working on.  An 86 400 bored to 67.75mm to be a 440cc when done.
Can anyone of those combinations be used with each other? My guess is they all can be mix matched.

I think the liquids share the same sht, And the fans share there own sht.
    Doesn't require social validation.

If it bolts in I think it will work, I have used a 97 liquid ignition on a 91 liquid engine (put a older bottom end in a newer chassis) just to have more amps for the lights and hand warmers. The timing marks were right on (TDC & total advance) If you are racing I think the liquid ignition will have a better curve on a fanner. Don't know how it will work on a stock trail rider though.
Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?

I have a 97 XCF 440 complete ignition/mag and recoil assembly on an 83 440 Sport. Bolted right up. Needed to change one wire on the 6 hole engine/chassis plug.
