I've raced Lucky Thumb the past 4 or 5 years. Great short track racing and a great bunch of people running it. It has grown tremendously the past couple years. Not uncommon to have 1000 spectators there on a Saturday night under the lights. They race the vintage sleds, motorcycles, side cars, quads and sometimes lawnmowers. Only complaints I had last year is it took over an hour to get on the ice for practice because of the motorcycles/quads. Then I would race in one class, come off the ice and get right back in the staging area and not have time to shut my sled down to cool and I was right back out for the next class. Then sit for 2 hours and watch the bikes run. Seems they could mix the bikes in with the sleds more to give you some time between classes. It is a lot longer drive, but I will be racing all the BEVRA races this year instead of the Lucky Thumb races because of that. If BEVRA or someone else is not running, I will head to LT.
