I've raced Lucky Thumb the past 4 or 5 years. Great short track racing and a great bunch of people running it. It has grown tremendously the past couple years. Not uncommon to have 1000 spectators there on a Saturday night under the lights. They race the vintage sleds, motorcycles, side cars, quads and sometimes lawnmowers. Only complaints I had last year is it took over an hour to get on the ice for practice because of the motorcycles/quads. Then I would race in one class, come off the ice and get right back in the staging area and not have time to shut my sled down to cool and I was right back out for the next class. Then sit for 2 hours and watch the bikes run. Seems they could mix the bikes in with the sleds more to give you some time between classes. It is a lot longer drive, but I will be racing all the BEVRA races this year instead of the Lucky Thumb races because of that. If BEVRA or someone else is not running, I will head to LT.

See it's just the opposite for me 75TTFan4ever.  BEVRA races are only a couple of ours away where the Lucky Thumb races are considerably further.  At any rate it looks like if a fellow wanted to, he could race every weekend all winter long!

Again, if you see the old white Ford motorhome with Ubee Racing on the hood in red letters?  Stop on in and I'll fix ya a cup of coffee or an adult beverage if your so inclined!  I'm doing this just to have a good time, meet new people, and spend good time with good friends!

I put a bug in the ears of the Clare County fairgrounds in Harrison. They are looking into putting on a vintage race. I hope they do. Their track is shaped like Pocono, 3 different corners and 3 different straightaways. Looks like it would be a fun track!

Sounds like a good time Rick, keep us in the loop as to what happens please?  I'm really looking forward to racing this winter!

For the last few years Hale has had their "Hale Yes Winterfest towards the end of January that included a vintage show, snowmobile drag racing and a car bump & run. This year they dropped the drag racing. My buddy was talking to the guy that put it on and mentioned about vintage racing. He seemed to be excited. 1/2 mile horse track at the Iosco County fairgrounds. I hope it happens.

Edit: They didn't drop the drag racing.  That is still on Sunday, ovals will be on Saturday

Half mile horse tracks aren't just for horses and flat track bikes  ;)
