By any chance would anyone have pictures of any '76-'80 Yamaha Exciters that may have raced. I don't even know if they would have been the "preferred" sled for Yamaha, just trying to get some info.
       Thanks

Yes there was. I don't know if they did it every year but there was. I know Roger Janssen got it one year.

Another winner was Richard Isfield  Gimli  MB in around 1971, his suit caught fire but he finished anyway. ;D

Not sure if this has been brought up in the thread. Last night searching through Amazon video I came across the movie The Winnipeg Run. It's about a troubled Vietnam vet returning home and he rides the route from Winnipeg to St. Paul. It looks like a cheesy TV movie but it has some cool old oval racing video and some good shots of him running the the route on a Arctic cat possibly a sno-pro?. Edgar Heteen was the technical director

that movie is some how a re-release of the 1973ish movie It Ain't Easy. that version had racing and then a chase scene as they were trying to smuggle drugs across the Canadian border. the story in Winnipeg Run is actually a little more understandable, to me anyway, but less snowmobiling. The cross country 75 Z at the end scenes though is pretty awesome, none of that was in the original version.

Wow, thanks for that link.  Great stories from the Matejka brothers.  Nice job local snow club for hosting such an event.
I have searched online for video from this 1979 race but have never found a thing.
Maybe somebody out there has film to share.

This I-500 sled is currently on display and the Polaris Experience Center in Roseau, Minnesota.
I took this photo last week.  Pretty cool.

    another pic.
Was this seat a factory option "Winnipeg" seat or did the guys build custom seats for their race sleds?
I remember the black "Winnipeg" seats for the early TXL/TXC that were sold through Polaris.

Loren Matejka has a lot of video from their I-500 racing. They had a movie camera in their follow vehicle and took lot's of footage. I have seen some of it in the past.
