Waconia Charity Build 2016
« on: February 17, 2015, 01:53:58 am »
I posted an ad in the classifieds, haven't received any responses yet, but this is probably a better place for it.
The 2016 theme for Waconia is Minnesota Orphans.
I have a '68 Larson that has been collecting dust for 30 years. What do you think about doing a Larson build? It's kind of an oddball that you don't see everyday. I'm more than willing to donate it. Sure it's not going to bring 40 grand but I don't think it's the amount of money we raise as much as what us as a vintage group can do for a good cause.
I don't want to head this up, but I want to help.
We don't have to do the Larson if somebody's got some other sled that they are willing to part with, we could even do more than 1, we did 2 the year of the Scorpion & Brut.
Let's discuss this a little and maybe somebody will grab the bull by the horns. I have $300.00 promised for the project (from donations).

The Bull Whip only been collecting dust for a few years, and the Speedway wasn't build in Minnesota.

2016 would be the perfect opportunity to restore a few oddballs at a reasonable cost. Vintage sledding is about family and camaraderie. A few simple restored singles would be awesome way bring a few buddies/family together.

As being part of the Brutanza Brut build, I know it is a lot of work but the payoff is great.  It's for a great cause, rewarding and the life-long friends you make are priceless.

I too will assist with the build and am ready to send cash donations to any and every sled that is to be built.

Dirtman, I could deliver the Larson to your shop! I'm sure there are guys in your part of the country that are willing to participate.
When we did the Aloutte build for the Antique club we disassembled it at a summer meeting, and put it mostly back together at the next summer meeting. People just took a part home and refurbished it.

Looks like I'll be taking  a road trip up North with the Larson. Thanks Dirtman for taking the project on.  Spoke with the Waconia committee, no problem with having more then one charity sled.
What do you think about doing another one some were more south of the border???.  The build is going to be in Argyle, MN.
