Yes, I agree it looks like the one on the bottom.

I was just going back out here to find that guy who posted that picture and message him to see if there's any more details in that book of his that could identify it.

It looks like a muffler for a Polaris Colt 175-244 single cylinder! Polaris used that Donaldson on those models.

I was going to say it looks like the muffler on our '74 colt 175. I have never looked to see if it has any stamping
    marks or part numbers.

So are you and Holleytool saying this is a stock muffler for a Polaris Colt or is this a aftermarket performance muffler for the Polaris Colt 175 / 250?

I'm an Arctic Cat guy but I've seen my share of Polaris sleds where they have more of a OEM muffler that is round in shape but not a round can after the pipe comes into it style.  I just had one here but I gave it away to somebody this summer so I can't provide a picture of what I'm talking about but I'm sure you guys know.

I should add that a few people on Facebook commented that the 175 and the 250 have a different pipe because it's a different bend up to the exhaust manifold.  Do you guys agree with that?

I reached out to a buddy of mine who has an old Polaris and he says it is a Colt 250 single cylinder so I'm going to try to head over there this weekend to see how it lines up on that machine.

    Thanks everyone.

Picture below is from a 1973 colt 175. The 73 colt 250 looks the same as well. I own two of the '73 250 singles, and one'73 175... At the end of the pipe, there is a welded on tab that keeps it from sticking too far though the tunnel. If you want more pictures, I can grab more of both pipes this weekend...

That is a shorter can with the pipe coming out the back.  The ones i have are longer & the outlet drops out the bottom.  Similar & maybe would fit which makes me go back to these are optional pipes vs stock.

    Thanks for the pic!

The first picture is a '73 250 colt, and second picture is a '73 175 colt. Notice the bracket on the can. This rests on the frame in the sled and it is welded onto the can. Both exhausts are factory Donaldson pipes. Your pipe could possibly fit a newer colt. I think the '74 175 colt had the motor positioned more horizontal, than the '73 175 colt and I don't know if the exhaust changed on those models...

    Thanks for the extra photos.

I was able to get to my buddies place yesterday and he has a 1973 Colt 250 and this muffler fit like a glove!

He did mention about those brackets and tabs on the muffler which are shown in your picture but he doesn't have the correct muffler on there so he actually needed this one.

I had three of them but now there are two available to sell and I'll put an ad in the appropriate section.

I'll add a couple photos of it on his sled and a photo on an Arctic Cat unfortunately I couldn't slide it back due to the battery box and no hole for the outlet but it lines up very well and could probably be made to fit with not a lot of work.

Forgot to mention in the last post.

    The dimensions are:

14" long of muffler itself  (probably the same as your 250 model)
    4 1/4" O.D. of muffler itself
    1 5/8" O.D. of inlet pipe
    1" O.D. outlet pipe
