Just when you thought it was safe to go in the water

:( :( :(  Real shark attack on the coast of Maine.  A woman was killed while swimming near Harpswell. Not far from two of the popular State park beaches. Tons of ''herring'' brings all the other parts of the food chain around right to the top I guess.  Thoughts and prayers to her loved ones

Yes along with the seals. Says that they found a seal carcass with a 19 inch bite mark on it.

Yes I believe she was wearing a wetsuit.  First report I heard said she was.  Just went out thirty miles last week after haddock. Great fun saw some blue sharks. This must have been a bit whiter and bigger.

There has been plenty of white sharks known to have been sighted over the years. Higher temps have them actively feeding.  A bunch of seals ''or what is left of them'' being found on beaches and such.  The biggest beaches are near the Big river mouths and deep water with lots of feed for the seals.  Lucky for me I only go knee deep at super low tide looking for surf ''hen'' clams for bait. Going back offshore in a couple weeks and will take the time to get fresh ones over frozen.
