I'm sure that a few folks are going to wrinkle their nose at me replying to this, responding primarily to your first post.  Thought that we are in as good of position to answer as anyone, and I will try my best to keep it objective!  ;)   Sport6, please do not hesitate to ask me to remove if you feel it will get in the way of you getting the info you seek.

I would also like to say that we are not really trying to compete with Wahl in this market.   Just providing an option, particularly for customers that are already buying our other skis and/or carbides for their IFS skis.

Here are the major key factors both ways in my opinion:

    1.  Derby Skis come fully assembled, which takes about 1.5 hours.
    2.  Derby Skis are CNC machined, including holes for precision.   Wahl skis come as a kit and you are drilling your own holes.
    3.  Derby Skis offer custom powder coating/anodizing options, and loop colors.
    4.  Wahl skis come in a wider extrusion to accommodate wider IFS spindles and Derby Skis are currently 2" extrusion only.
    5.  Wahl skis pretty much come one way, so you order them and they will arrive in a few days.   Derby Skis are often custom, so they are pretty much built to order.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

    Next question,

Is there any handling difference between the Wahl wide and narrow ski's?

the wide is meant to be used on the left side. its wider bottom allows it to stay on top of the ski grooves in the ice and eliminate some of the darting. some people like them some dont. stay with a narrow ski for the right side or use them on both sides if you want an aggressive turning sled. The bottom on the narrow ski is more aggressive.  you will have to cut your spindles narrower for the narrow ski to fit on the spindle.

Fix your spindles and go with the skinny ski's.
The wide ones do not carve like the narrow ones.
The wide left on champ sleds works because of extreme castor angle, something you don't have on F500's and sportsman 600.
    You know my brand preference
Carbide placement can make huge difference also

    Next question:

When mounting ski's with carbides.  For a 50/50 carbide placement does a person go straight down from the ski bolt?  Or follow the angle of the spindle to the ice and use that to use for a 50/50 carbide placement.

best way to check center is to put a dowel or old broom stick on the floor put your ski on top roll the sled back and forth and where it balances is center. should be under the spindle
