OK  A few years ago Allen was kind enough to sit on his 81 for a couple photos. I don't remember the exact year. They had taken the glass off the 2 81s but I didn't have my camera. When I got back with my camera the glass was back on.

This was at the Boonville show in August of 08'.  I believe this was just after the sled was purchased on EBAY.

most DOMINANT race sleds of all time ,second to no one.. track records still hold at most tracks they were awsome

Twin tracks still hold records but probably not those twin trackers,  truth be told they were a big bug fest
They were the first twin tracks from Doo they had the right idea it just took another year or so to get the bugs worked out, and that came right from one of those 3 drivers.
They had to wait until 1982 to win the WC with a Twin Track

The biggest issue with these twin-trackers is they pushed like crazy going into the corners.  They didn't steer at all.  A friend of mine from Hartford CT, Jean-Guy Poulin had been messing around with his own version of a twin-track and at Valcourt (I think), the Ski-Doo engineers came over to see why his sled was so fast.  He was reluctant at first, but flipped the sled over and showed them the clutch between the two short driveshafts.  They just stared at it and Jean-Guy said "What, you do not even recognize your own Can-Am motorcycle clutch?"  It let the power continue to drive the outside track going into the corner, while slipping the inside track so the sled naturally wanted to turn to the left.  Once Ski-doo put the clutch between the driveshafts and added the adjustment cable like Poulin had (the more you turned, the more it slipped), they were unstoppable.  That's what really made those things so fast through the corners.

That's the sled that got Gilles heat with Enzo Ferrari for his wintertime dangerous racing outings isn't it?  What is the real world value on one of those beauties, are they approaching 6 figures?

The Moto-ski sold on EBAY in 08' for about $22,000 (or close to that, if I remember correctly).
