MyChron 3's have not been made for years however there,s lots of them around in the kart world
Years ago there were some made with heated screens for sleds but that was a separate deal, I haven't seen many of those around. Goodwin used to sell them.
Both 3 and 4 come in different models basic models usually only have one temp, they were aimed at the kart world.
Several options if your looking at the 4 series. There is a model with 2 temps which also does rpm and lap time. You can also go with a 4 and the E Box, this includes a extra temp and a speed channel. Speed is very useful, not really for overall sled speed, but hook it up to your jackshaft and it will graph Engine RPM against Sec. rpm. It gives you graphs just like in the Aaen book every time you make a run. You see everything that happens in clutching.
The E Box also includes a tri axle accelerometer. This measure G Force in any direction, very useful for drag racers for testing or oval guys in corners. It does record fast enough for Pro Stock bike.
The last option is the price has just come down on the GPS unit from $400, to $200. We run GPS on the race sled, incredible info. It will simply plug into a model 4.
In the 3 line there were also several levels from basic to Gold. Gold have the same E Box and extra temps and speed. I run 3 of these golds on my trail sleds, not sure why some of you are having slow response on these. Mine have been used on sleds in winter and karts in summer for years.
All of these can be downloaded to a comp. and all functions graphed in multiple ways. You can also over lay sessions to make comparisons in testing.
There's nothing wrong with Digitron, we used them till the mid 90's when MyChron came along. There good there just very basic in the features they offer. Today used MyChrons can be found for a couple hundred bucks that do much more
