76-77 F/A cats had the Spirit 500 with 4 port cylinders.  If needed, L.A. sleeve has options to sleeve these cylinders.

I dont like the fact that they chatter the crank bearing surfaces in the crankcase. CDs are hard to find for the newer version. They always started good but seem to run a little rich in the mid range.

500cc free air seems to be a good engine to me, and its good for racing. I have few el tigres, one 76 and two 79 and 80 el tigre 5000 with 500cc free air, and never had any problem. So dont have any cons.
The older el tigre like 76 to 77 has 4 ports,  and 78 to 81 added two more ports stock for better high rpm and more power, also has bigger fins for better cooling. If you see 6 ports inside, well its could be from between 78 to 81. They are fast and 78-81 500cc has 62 to 65hp. older 500 has probably around 55hp.

yup it' has 6 ports ..the carb port is split in two Y?? ,, as you can see i know very little about cats ,the late cat i had was 8 years ago and it was my first cat.it was a lynx 2 with a 340 kawy ..that sled pee me off big time took me 6 months to find out the crank casing was no good ..stilling it would run great ,take it for a ride and you'd just get back to the shop ,did every thing you could think off and nothing worked so i changed cases and the problem was gone and man that little sled moved right out..sold it to a 10 year old and he fried it that spring ,he drove it all day in +10c as you can guess motor was done..also had a 72-73 panther 440 i think never got to ride that one sold it before i even got it running, oh well thats life .now i'm working on a deal for two pantara's for $80 .i'm told they are free air sleds ,looked quick at one body but it had no motor , the other has motor a 500cc F/A.missing flywheel and starter plate, but i'v not seen it so i'm going on info that i was told ..
