if you ran super mod couldn't you put a gpx top end on it? I'm not familiar with supermod rules .you can build that exciter motor with gpx port specs and twin pipes and dual carbs and have the benefit of better low end torque with the reed cylinders but better cooling with the free air top end.
Hoozier, I think you would have to ask AHood that one, If it was a race motor for a car (V8) then I'd know but never really got into 2 strokes, would love to learn if anyone is willing to teach me tho sit home for 6 months a year so I minds well do something besides work on a snowmobile, LOL
I know it would work but I dont know what the rules are for super mod. maybe that kind of set up would be allowed in open Mod? dont know that much about oval race classes and rules

wide open i think you need to decide what class you whant to race in stock ,superstock,or mod nvsrs runs stock rules to keep costs down if you dont mind speding some money buy a set of skis and a r track and run pvr super stock when you start placing in top three at nvsrs you should be able to make the show at eagle river but to place is a whole nother story pretty stiff competion there but you will be racing some of the fastest sleds in this area

24T3, I have decided to run the super stock class like I did last year and will have to run with the Mods at NVSRS, already got the North star skis and the track well I would buy a new R track but I have a Yamaha track under the machine now that came off a sled with only 700 miles on it and for $100 I couldn't go wrong, set up this year will be a big thing, I started building the sled last year in the second week of DEC and got it finish the night before we left for ER, I didn't get a lot of testing time in per say but a snowmobile handles a lot like the Wissota dirt late models we ran, if you set a sled on a set of scales it will act a lot like a car when you start tuning the suspension, its getting the clutching right that we all know make a huge difference, if was like when I raced moto-cross I would be some much easier, just hit the gas and fly through the air but its not which makes it more challenging and more fun.

if you sled handles like a dirt car you need more studs, going sideways on a leafer is not as fast as it can go,i agree scales can tell you things but there not the same , i do both and its not the same

cheater is right dirt tracken is not the answer on ice scales may help but you have to test test test you know what they say slow down you will go faster buy the way if leon did your motor its all good leon knows his stuff one of the best yamaha guys around im sure if the heads needed any work at all its done if you decided to run super stock you still should get r track and north stars do you have hdy brakes that is a must what are you running for primary comet or polaris i hope buy the way ahood its going to be pretty hard to get those kinda numbers with stock intake and exhaust to be legal in super stock you could probaly pull it of in mod but for that kinda money you could build a veary strong gpx

24T3, yes got the hydraulic brake set up went with willwood all because there a good system and easy to find, running a Polaris primary, didn't have the time or chance tell this year to get the northstar skis and as for the R track if I am right and please correct me if I am wrong the weigh in at 30.5 lbs and the track I run know is 31.5 lbs rotating mass is a little more I'm guessing 1/2 hp lose at the most, cheater67x, as for the scale and set up I was really referring to to how they would handle a like not that I want the ass end to slide around, guess I should have been more clear. 24T3, yes you are right testing is everything this year I will at least have time to do that. hey cheater67x if we could only do the front end geometry on a sled like a race car we probably could get the sleds to turn on a dime!!!!!!
