How close are the trade-in and retail values that the Nada  price guide  give.. Any experience ?  Better on line guide??  Thanks  Rusty!

For cars? Probably pretty realistic as those are numbers the dealer typically tries to leverage you with.
Bikes and sleds, etc?? Other than trade in price at a dealership on a new purchase, probably not very relevant. Regional market and time of the year are big determining factors.
I'm not sure where that came from.....

Remember it is a Guide and a Guide only...you still must be firm, dealers are well trained in their craft..

As a vehicle dealer , Nada has a consumer version with retail prices and to us dealers there is a dealer  wholesale version.

I traded in Wife's car on Thursday and the dealer gave me $50 over the highest trade in value found in the consumer edition of the NADA price guide.

Nada = National Automobile Dealers Association so the guide is an instrument to aid dealers in making money. The consumer edition is just another way for them to profit. The deck is stacked against you no matter what.

True. The dealer I bought the new car from has 138 employees (I asked) and all of them are supporting a family I'd assume so I don't begrudge someone making a living. I see our car listed the next day for 3 thou more than they gave me on trade. Of that three large they will likely cut that in half for the true sale price so they're going to make 15 hundo (my estimate) which puts it about 7 hundred below the high retail consumer edition NADA number.  They have bills to pay too, so of course I'd love to get another couple grand on it, but I'm good.
