The bogie tires that I got from Spaulding (now Goose) had what appeared to be releasing agent residue on them.

A quick bath in warm water and dish soap along with some scrubbing with a nylon brush seemed to get things back in order.

I use stainless fasteners with nylon lock nuts to reassemble the bogies.

They look ok ... but just ok. If the bogie flanges were anywhere on the sled that was up front and highly visible ... I would probably strip the fake chrome paint and have them plated. Fake chrome paint is fake chrome paint. It ain't chrome plating!

If you ever decide to repaint those bogies I like to use rustoleum satin black. It seems to sort of 'hide' problems similar to a flat black, but looks more like a factory paint in my mind. Not the factory color scheme for the originally plated bogie wheels of course

I finally got some quality shop time in today. On of my good buddies came over to help with the track installation.

Started with the chaincase install ...

I eneded up using three shims in back of the chaincase to get everything within spec.

The track went in almost too  easy.

    Then the bogies ...

    Then the skis ...

    Then the engine ...

It was a very productive day all in all ... now I need to clean and paint all the little parts for the steering etc ...

This is turning out to one beautiful sled. Nice work, and I subscribed to your You-tube channel. Lots of good stuff on there.

Very nice job! I restore a lot of these for different customers, mostly '68-'70 Olympics, and a few TNT's. One of my favorite sleds to restore.

I am looking for an NOS of very nice used set of chrome bumpers for this sled. I am on the eastern coast of Canada so anywhere from Ontario going east might work for me. Coming from the USA would probably be too costly.

I will also be needing the rear grab bumper which is not the same as the Olympique rear grab bar.

    Thanks for having a look.

Getting a few details taken care of ...

    Original caps ...

    Repro rubber from Goose ...

Repro seat from Goose ... as you can see on the bend upwards on the material at the rear ... not perfect ... but good enough for a driver.

Looks pretty good from this angle ...

That seat is really starting to bug me ... I am going to have to find someone local to see if the issues can be fixed.

I have been busy at other things for a little while now but today, I had some time to play in the shop.

The ice in the back yard was finally melted enough so that I could get at the steering support, that was stuck in the ice. I put it in the blasting cabinet ... and then the compressor wouldn't start. Something else I am going to have to trouble shoot I guess.

I didn't pay attention to the steering support and how it was fastened together when I took the sled apart.

I am assuming that the lowest part is the steering post bracket ... followed by the brace strip ... followed by the steering support. Is this the correct sequence?

And the last item for today ... the cab ...

    Notice something wrong? .....

There is no cutouts for the bumper bolts clearances!!!!!!

How could I have missed that? Now that means that I will have to make the cutouts on a finished cab! Not looking forward to that! Grrr ....

I am going to take a couple of days off from the project before I do something stupid ... and think on this problem a bit more. I have a bodyman friend who most likely will be able to guide me in this ...
