Interesting. Are you going to port the Colt cylinders to the TX spects? There has to be quite a difference between the two.

really the only porting you have to do is on the bottom of the cyls. to match up the best you can, you cant get the excact because theres not enough meat in the cyls. but you can get close and taper them and they will work fine, i did do my own porting on these, nothing radicial as im going to trail ride this but it should be nice and responsive. i have my rail extensions all done and decided on the early indy 400 suspension because of a few different wheel locations. wrenchman

Wrenchman,

I am curious as how you plan to set up the suspension.  What I would like to know is how will you determine the mounting points for the new suspension and track?  Will you use the existing front holes and go from there or start from scratch?  It is a neat project.

im measuring from the center of the driver shaft to the first hole in the 400 chassis, then its just a matter of measuring from that front hole to the rear hole, the front hole will be as low as i can possiably get it, on the rear i bought some tunnel plates from polaris that have the extra hole below the running board , this is where ill be mounting the rear to give the sled a little lift. wrenchman

Those drop mounts were made for running your Polaris in deep snow. But what most people didn't know was that you were also supposed to drill out another hole (there are 2 more already in backing plate but not in the tunnel) to mount the front to. Lots of people just moved the back, and not the front, which adds a ton of ski pressure and wears out your hyfax quicker. You say your going to measure on your indy from the driveshaft to the front tunnel mount. If you notice on your 400 backer, that there is another hole lower on the plate that isn't drilled, I would measure to that one instead of the one already drilled, if you going to use those drop mounts.

no drop mounts in the front just the rear, the holes in the indy chassis are already in the lower hole
