Restoration of 1969 Polaris Charger

Young Man, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family on the loss of your Grandpa.   You are doing a wonderful job getting the Polaris fixed, and restored.  Take your time on this project, as it is eaiser to do it the way you want it the first time, than have to do it better later!!

Thank you Sparcat, everyone, means a lot. I'm definetly going to be taking my time to do this right, just like grandpa would have. My dad will be helping me with a lot painting and stuff in general, mostly just setting me up than making sure I do it right pretty much. Because he wants me to learn with this just as much as I do.


Also as a side not, the other charger, the 297 sach, I'll be getting that running this week as is as a rider for this winter. I'll get a video once I get it running, very strong spark, dirty carb.

School is getting in the way a lot. Chassis is just about done, sanding it all down, bit of sand blasting too for the harder areas. Need to leave under the console for matching the paint codes, doing that next week. Still looking for hood grille parts too. Will have in primmer by halloween. Going slow, I know..

Put about 3 horus today cleaning parts, spent a hour re arranging work station. Will get some pictures soon. I'm waiting for winter to hit - the lawnmower *4030 JD with a 6 ft deck we use to mowe all the apartments* and get the model A out and than I'll have space of the garage to work and spread out a tad..

Started welding a bit too. Theirs about 20 little half inch holes on each side on the tunnel and running board, where grandpa reinforced, he had qtr inch sheet of steel bent to reinforce it.

Looks like I'll be able to reuse most if not all of the boggie wheels. I got a way to repack them.   Only 1 or 2 is seized anyways.

Takes about 20 minutes each side, 40 for the whole wheel. Combination of the hand drill with the steel brush at the end and with sand paper. 4 out of 12 done...




Also got the sled up, I sweat the thing is getting lighter.

Got 2 keys off ebay that fit the igniton - perfect, dont have to mess around looking for the originals. Even though these are original too. lol

Still cleaning up parts after school and spare time. Taking me time, dont want to mess it up.

Varsity Basketball is starting on the 9th, the means snow is coming, that means I'm driving a sled to practice, snow allowing.

I'v been extremely busy with school lately. Basketball starts monday.

Got all the welding done on the chassis, doing body work when I have time.

My grandmother passed away early monday morning... This project is way more than I intended emotionally..

That copper block I had was one hot SOB by the time I got done.. Wish I used heat resistant gloves, melted the pair I used a bit, hands were red by the time I got done lol fun fun

i had one of them 69 chargers, no motor, all there....i took it to the junk yard, tired of it sitting around

Looks like you have that Charger well under way to being a beautiful machine for the snow again!! Nice work!
