Well I haven't been on the site much this spring-summer so i missed out on all the goings on here, but I will say this if it werent for BK none of this would have gotten to the state level.  BK, Don t get discouraged by the nay sayers or the whine asses, that happens every where. What you are doing is getting the attention our sport/hobby needs. If i can help in any way pm me sometime.

Dave ,Thanks,a bunch of guys are in on this, without the numbers one guy would go no where!  The big thing is to get your club or vintage Buddy's involved,I have some info I'd be glad to send along.    I really have a feeling we have a shot this time and NYSSA is now seeing the benefit Vintage may provide. When the numbers of registered sleds came out,I was surprised at the impact it would have ! 40,000 out anybodys pocket would hurt now ! That's at the 25yr level.   We are a snowball and its picking up speed.   I'm not going to stop anyone from speaking up,its good practice for down the road when others will say the same things .
My big thing now is how can we get groups in all parts of state to get together and debate this and send me what they come up with ! If 2 heads are better than 50 should be scary smart !   Dave at anytime you have something to ad ,good or bad ,bring it on ,Please !  BK

Hey BK, good to see the word is getting out.

RE: getting some groups together, I think there's at least a few of us in/near Utica area.  Anybody headed to Otego (if the rain stops), I know Fatcat had a thread started to see who was going.  Maybe we could get a few together for a bull session and get some ideas?

Having people travel far wont work,if we could have groups in all regions get together and then send the general feel of each meeting to each other,I feel more may come of it,more heads idea !     I gotta get some info for the July NYSSA meeting,I dont want this to stall, its off season so its tuff anyway.
When at shows ,spread the word, get people into this !   I will  post some of the newest emails I been getting, then you will see what I mean, later

Hey BK I just received an email from Dominic Testani he is our NYSSA area director and our region is for supporting a vintage classification, here is the email he sent me:

I am St. Law Cty Snowmobile Asso.'s District director.  I attend NYSSA meetings every month.  I currently sit on the
Govermental Affairs Comm., which looks over new and current Legislation concerning snowmobiles, and makes recommendations to our Lobbyists in Albany or to NYS Office or Parks and Rec.
At our last meeting we had John Kress, who seems to have taken the lead in the registration for Vintage Sleds.  Using his input and advice on what vintagesleds are looking for, and what we think is possible, we are going to make a recommendation to Parks, which governs sleds.  That is;  Snowmobiles 30 years or older,  must be a member of a club that is a member of NYSSA,
It will be a yearly registration.    Other restriction most likely will apply such as, can't mix and match parts, like puttin an old 440cc motor and exhaust on I newer chassie with newer suspensioin, and calling it Vintage.
It is the feeling of the majority that this something needed and worthwhile because of the growth in Vintage Snowmobile Clubs
and events sponsored by these clubs.  It brings out the older generation that started it all.
You can probably get more info off the web at   Vintage Snowmobile Club.com
How this helps,  Tony

Hopefully things are headed in the right direction!!
Thanks for all you are doing!

Dave, That's great !    Do you have a email address for Tony, I want to clear up the "What is Vintage" thing quick.    The Parks guy had the same idea of guys putting a 70 hood on a 99 sled.     Is Tony on here under a slang name ?    Thanks again, shows we have there attention !!

Wake up vintage sled heads !!    We are on our way...............BK 'sweetness

Letter sent to Tony,           Tony Hi,   I just saw a letter you sent out about vintage use,I'd like to say thanks for the support !    One thing I saw was  the miss match of parts. This cant and wont happen,When I presented other states in use provisions and was told this was NY and they didn't matter,I researched these provisions to see what "worked" in other states and how we could draw from these to adopt  the most up to date and fare vintage use program around.
In all 7 that I did research they stated in there requirements that the sled had to be of a identifiable make,in original or restored condition.  This does not even allow for the miss match of vintage parts.   The penalty's are harsh for anyone that abuses this provision.  If at anytime you would want to see any of this info,Id be more than happy to forward it to you.
Thanks again for your interest and support !   See you at the August meeting,                      John  Kress
                                                                                                                                                               123 Preston st.
                                                                                                                                                               Depew NY 14043

Dave, thanks for everything,I did email him through NYSSA.   Why did he send you the email ?   Is it a blanket email sent to many directors ,Presidents of clubs or NYSSA members ?   These are questions to see how and what I have to work with. Don't mean to be a pain !
Dave I gotta tell ya this is getting very exciting for me,hope for all vintage owners in NY,again thanks BK
