LIVE ON SKIS JOURNAL PART II

Sunday, February 10th, 2008

Hands down, one of the most impressive machines at Live on Skis this year was this spectacular John Deere. Few know, however, that this sled was restored, in its entirely by a collector who wishes to remain anonymous. And he did it just so Forrest Hess would have a darn nice one to ride. Hats off to our masked man! Forrest loved the sled – as did all the rest of us!

An honored guest from Make A Wish for this years “Live On Skis” event.

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

Vintagesleds.com announces an honored guest from Make A Wish for this years “Live On Skis” event.

The Live On Skis event is chance for vintage snowmobile enthusiasts from all over the world to get together and “shoot the breeze”. In between these “bull sessions”, participants ride the old sleds on the beautiful trails and lakes around International Falls, Minnesota. There’s no show, no race, no pressure of any kind – just show up and have a good time.

Make A WishMake A Wish is a non-profit organization that grants a wish to enrich the lives of kids with life-threatening medical conditions. One of our members on the Vintagesleds.com Bull Sessions forum is just such a person. On the forum he goes by the name “Colt250ss”, but his real name is Forrest Hess, and he hails from New York.

No one associated with vintagesleds.com has had a greater honor than to have Forrest pick the “Live On Skis” event as the place he wants to go, the thing he wants to do. Forrest wants to meet and ride with Bull Session members he’s come to know and like.

We here at vintagesleds.com are determined to make Forrest’s wish a the best it can be. If you’d like to help, just make the trip and enjoy the weekend with a fun bunch of people who just enjoy these old machines as much as you do.

Forrest has made the request to ride a few special machines. So if you have one of these and would be kind enough to let Forrest and maybe his family take them for a ride, it would be very, very cool:

* A John Deere Liquifier or Cyclone
* A 1975 Johnson JX 650
* A 1974 SKi-Whiz
* Any Yamaha Race Sled (SR, SRX, SSR?)

Visit the Live on Skis page to learn more about the event. To learn more and donate to Make A Wish, visit their website. Want to meet Forrest? Check him out on the Bull Sessions!

LIVE ON SKIS PHOTOS

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

I got all the photos up from last year’s “Live on Skis” event – just a bunch of people on old sleds, going for a ride, sharing some meals and shooting the breeze and having a party. It was great fun, and I already have the sled for next year ready to go! Enjoy! You know, I do not think I’ve ever had an Evinrude on the front of this website before. But frankly, the above Evinrude kicked my butt going down the trail, so all props to Rampage, who I’m sure was the most entertaining character of the event.

“LIVE ON SKIS” VIDEO

For those of us that could get to this event, we had a great time. No real agenda or activities were planned – just dining, riding and shooting the breeze around old sleds. I thought it was kind of an “anti-event” event. We had a great time. Smiles, smiles and more smiles everywhere. Bull Sessions member Snoeproe brought along his camera and made this record of the event. He did a GREAT job. Enjoy – and make plans for next winter: February 16th 2008 in International Falls, MN.

VINTAGESLEDS.COM 1st Ever “LIVE ON SKIS!”

It was a gret time last weekend, ripping it up on old sleds around beautiful Lake Rainier in Northeastern Minnesota. Low snow conditions (very rare in this part of Minnesota didn’t stop the riding, the fun or the BS! Here’s just a couple of sample photos. More later.
